Corporate Services Assistant: Maintenance Officer,S1 (LTU563) Introduction The British Embassy in Vilnius is looking for a part-time Maintenance Officer for a position starting on 1 April 2016. The successful candidate will work as part of the Corporate Services team at the Embassy. The candidate will be responsible for day-to-day maintenance, driving duties, Health and Safety checks, professional upkeep of the Embassy and maintenance duties in private residential buildings that form part of the Embassy estate. The candidate will be expected to have a good working knowledge and experience of electrical, plumbing and decoration work. Main duties and Responsibilities - Maintenance tasks as allocated by the Estates Manager including repairs, re-painting, decorating, basic electrical and plumbing tasks.
- Responsible for completing Health and Safety checks and procedures.
- Furniture removal and meeting room/event set-up.
- Maintaining office equipment e.g. photocopiers, shredders, IT equipment etc.
- Driving duties including procuring items from local suppliers.
- Wider assistance to the Embassy teams as needed e.g. for events.
- Implementing environmental initiatives; some gardening and cleaning duties.
- Clearing snow in winter and leaves in autumn from Embassy and residential compounds.
- Work with existing Embassy systems e.g. databases and spreadsheets and implement work according to agreed standards and procedures.
Skills and Knowledge Required - Experience in building maintenance or a trade skill.
- Full driving license with a clean record.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and deal with competing priorities.
- Good oral and written English skills;
- Good IT skills including the full Microsoft Office Suite and relevant software.
Terms and Conditions The position advertised is offered on a part-time basis working 20 hours per week from 1 April 2016. The Embassy supports flexible working and hours can be adjusted to suit the candidate’s needs as long as operational needs are met. Work hours must be completed within core Embassy opening hours from 07:30-17:30 Monday to Friday and should, where possible, be on the same agreed days each week. All appointments are subject to satisfactory security clearance, and a three months probation period. The successful applicant will be required to provide (in advance of an employment offer being made) a copy of his/her passport or national identity card for all nationalities held, an up-to-date criminal record check, two written proofs of address (utility invoices and/or bank statements), and two references from previous employers.
